Todd County tech center has new name, renewed vision

What was known as the Todd County Career Path Institute is now the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center and students in the region can leave prepared for high-paying jobs at Novelis in Guthrie.

The center on the campus of Todd County Central High School came to fruition several years ago through a partnership between Todd Fiscal Court, the Todd County School District and Hopkinsville Community College.

Eric Keeling of the district was at the ceremony Monday and says the school system will now employ the instructors and the changes are more than just a new name on the building—they’re about a new focus on serving Todd County and surrounding communities.

Novelis has been involved as a partner as it prepares to hire employees for the building that should begin production next year and plant manager Paul Banks says he hopes to find students graduating high school prepared to fill those high-paying positions.

Hopkinsville Community College President, Dr. Alissa Young notes the center will be offering new programming for adults in the upcoming fall—in addition to the Novelis partnership.

Judge Executive Todd Mansfield and others agree the new name was positive to freshen up the building and to state its renewed mission and purpose.
