MLB: Reds lose, Cardinals and Braves win Sunday

Max Scherzer struck out 15 and allowed one run on three hits over eight innings in the Washington Nationals’ 4-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Sonny Gray took the pitching loss, allowing two runs over five innings. Derek Dietrich doubled home Joey Votto for the Cincinnati run. The Reds have lost three of four.

The Reds are off today before opening a series at the St. Louis Cardinals tomorrow night, with pregame at 6:45 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.

Elsewhere in the National League: Adam Wainwright struck out eight over eight scoreless innings as the St. Louis Cardinals edged the Chicago Cubs 2-1. The Cardinals are off today while the Cubs host the Los Angeles Angels in the first of an Interleague series at Wrigley Field later today.

Interleague: The Atlanta Braves strung together three hits and two walks for four runs in the eighth to put away the Detroit Tigers 7-4 at Sun Trust Park. The Braves are off today.
