A Hopkinsville man was killed and his four passengers were injured in a single-vehicle wreck Memorial Day weekend in Florida.
It happened May 25th on Florida’s Turnpike in St. Lucie County, according to a news release quoted in a Treasure Cost Palm article, which says 42-year old Michael Cardwell of Hopkinsville had been southbound when veered to the left and struck a guard rail for unknown reasons.
His car rotated clockwise and overturned, traveling across the inside and outside lane and stopping upright facing south in the outside lane and shoulder.
Cardwell was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two of his passengers—64-year old Martin Gamble and Landen Cardwell—were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries. Two others, 34-year old Heather Cardwell and 11-year old Brayden Cardwell, were treated at local hospitals for minor injuries.
