McCracken County scored eight times in the first two innings and routed the Hopkinsville Tigers 14-1 in six innings at the KHSAA Sectional Tournament at WKU’s Nick Denes Field Saturday. The Mustangs had 18 hits and held the Tigers to just five. Aaron Crosby and Blake Balthrop had four of Hopkinsville’s five hits. Ryan Myers scored Hopkinsville’s lone run in the third inning.
Preston Chadouin started and was knocked out in the second inning and took the loss for the Tigers who finish 21-14. McCracken County is now 31-7 and face Rowan County at 4:30 Hopkinsville time Thursday in quarterfinal action in Lexington.
3rd Region winner Breckinridge County defeated 4th Region winner South Warren 7-3 in the other sectional game at WKU Saturday. Breckinridge County will face Beechwood in quarterfinal play at 4:30 Wednesday in Lexington.
