A shoplifting suspect accused of assaulting a Hopkinsville police officer in April was indicted Friday morning by a Christian County Grand Jury.
Thirty-eight-year-old Michael Hunter of Hopkinsville is facing charges of third-degree assault of a police officer, tampering with evidence, theft, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officer Alan Vance was called to TJ Maxx for a shoplifting complaint on April 7th and Hunter allegedly engaged in a struggle and assaulted him.
Employees at stores in the complex said he had shoplifted from TJ Maxx, Ross and Burkes. He also allegedly had a glass pipe used for drugs the he dropped and shattered during the altercation.
Meanwhile, the grand jury indicted 29-year old Devan Matlock and 37-year old Charles Pryor of Hopkinsville for flagrant non-support.
Pryor is $24,000 behind and Matlock is $23,000 behind on child support payments, according to the indictments.
Pryor Matlock
