The Hopkinsville Tigers claimed their first 2nd region championship since 2015 with a 9-5 win over Caldwell County last night at WKU’s Nick Denes Field.
Layne Jorgensen and Caleb Bapp managed two hits each as the Tigers had nine hits total. Logan Durst in relief of starter Tim Cansler got the win, with Robert Justus picking up the save. Blake Stallins took the pitching loss for Caldwell County who concludes the season 18-14.
Hopkinsville improves to 21-13 and faces McCracken County in the semi-state game tomorrow afternoon at 4 at Nick Denes Field, with the Heritage Bank pregame show at 3:45 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and whopam.com.
Breckinridge County defeated Owensboro Catholic 5-2 in the 3rd region championship game. Breckinridge County will face South Warren in the semi-state round tomorrow morning at 11 also at Nick Denes Field.
