Elkton man arrested on meth trafficking charges

The Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force investigation led to the arrest of an Elkton man Thursday on charges of trafficking in methamphetamine and fleeing or evading police.

According to a news release, detectives concluded a drug investigation into 38-year old Jason Wayne McCord of Elkton and responded to the West End Storage Facility on Commerce Street in Elkton to apprehend him.

Upon contact with McCord, he allegedly fled on foot. He was taken into custody following a brief pursuit with assistance from the Todd County Sheriff’s Department.  He was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine, locally manufactured meth, a loaded handgun, drug paraphernalia and cash.

The case remains open and other charges could be pending.

McCord was charged with meth trafficking, fleeing or evading police and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
