Over 100 adults from Christian, Todd, Trigg and Caldwell counties will receive their GED Thursday night during a graduation at Hopkinsville Community College.
It begins at 7 p.m. in the HCC auditorium and outstanding achievement certificates and GED scholarships awards will also be presented during the ceremony.
The keynote speaker will be Angela Smith, who received her GED in 1991. She is currently an HCC instructor and coordinator for the college’s medical information technology program.
Smith started attending Madisonville Community College in 2010 and completed an associate of applied science degree with medical coding and administrative credentials in 2012. She received her coding certification the following year and began work with the Pennyroyal Mental Health and Primary Care as their first and only coder. Smith stayed with Pennyroyal for five years before joining HCC.
Students receive free instruction and preparation for the GED exam at the HCC Adult Education Center, also known as Kentucky Skills U.
