CCHD educating community on Narcan use in the effort to save lives

The Christian County Health Department is working to bring awareness of opioid overdoses to the community and how to save the lives of those who do overdose by using Narcan.

Amanda Bassingthwaite with the health department recently appeared on WHOP and says they hosted a successful training about how to use Narcan, which is a nasal spray that can medically save the life of someone who has overdosed on opioids.

She says the medicine is safe to give to patients of all ages, from babies to the elderly, in the event an accident occurs and they’re exposed to too much of the substances. She says they’re working closely with local law enforcement to get Narcan into the community and hopefully save lives.

Bassingthwaite says they intend to host more training sessions on how to quickly and correctly use Narcan on someone in need sometime during the summer.
