Man, two children killed in I-65 crash

A man and two children were killed in a crash Saturday night on Interstate 65 in Hart County.

Kentucky State Police investigated and say 36-year old Augustin Gonzalez of Cary, North Carolina had been southbound in a minivan near the 68 mile-marker when he failed to see a tow-truck stopped in the left lane for an unrelated accident and struck it in the rear.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hart County Coroner’s Office. Two passengers—6-year old Noelle Gonzalez and 2-year old Gwendolyn Gonzalez—died at local hospitals. A third passenger, 8-year old Nicholas Gonzalez, was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

KSP says all occupants were properly restrained at the time of the crash.

The driver of the tow-truck was not injured.
