Man charged with second DUI, fleeing or evading police

A man wanted on a warrant was arrested for fleeing or evading police and for his second DUI Friday night.

An arrest citation says 49-year old Thomas Weaver of Hopkinsville drifted into oncoming traffic on West 15th Street and nearly struck a Hopkinsville police cruiser head-on.

Weaver allegedly didn’t stop when Officer Jamie Gapp turned on his lights and siren, instead turning onto Cherry and then West 15th Street.

He eventually came to a stop and Officer Gapp noticed an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Weaver performed poorly on field sobriety tests and he was arrested for fleeing or evading police, driving on a DUI suspended license, his second DUI and he was served with the warrant for contempt of court.
