A one-year old child is dead after drowning in a pond in Calloway County.
Dispatchers received a call about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday from a female who said her one-year old was found not breathing in a pond near her home.
Deputies and EMS responded and dispatchers gave the woman CPR instructions over the phone.
The child was transported by ambulance to Murray-Calloway County Hospital and was later transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Officials there notified the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday that the child had died.
The investigation into the incident continues.
The child’s name and exact location of the incident have not been released.
