Christian County won the 8th district title, topping Hopkinsville 16-1 in four innings. The fifth ranked Lady Colonels led 13-1 after two innings and didn’t look back. Pickle Winkler, Emmy Blane and Tyler Shemwell each had two hits for Christian County, with Shemwell hitting a home run. Hannah Sumner got the pitching win. Hopkinsville was held to two hits, one each from losing pitcher Marley Hancock and Nadia Clayton. Both teams will play in next week’s 2nd region tournament beginning Monday at Webster County. Christian County is 27-8 while Hopkinsville is 17-22.
Members of the All District team were announced following the game last night. University Heights was represented by Raegan Pollard, Taiya Straight, Marley Hancock and Nadia Clayton of Hopkinsville were named to the team along with Christian County’s Pickle Winkler, Reni Shemwell, Hannah Sumner, Hope Jones, Tyler Shemwell and Emmy Blane.
