Primary polls open until 6 p.m.

Polls remain open until 6 p.m. for the primary election and voter turnout has been low in the area.

Christian County Elections Coordinator Melinda Humphries says it’s picked up at times, but overall voter turnout has been lackluster.

She says there have been no problems with precincts, but there has been some confusion about who can and can’t vote in a primary.

Todd County Clerk Leslie Cunningham says turnout has been low there as well, but higher at some precincts in the city of Elkton where there’s a wet-dry vote.

Officials in Trigg County have also noted a slow turnout and have not noted any major issues with voting.

Primary voters are making choices for constitutional officers such as governor, attorney general, secretary of state, commissioner of agriculture, state auditor and treasurer.

Anyone standing in line at 6 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
