A Hopkinsville man sought on a warrant was arrested early Saturday morning and had drug trafficking charges added.
Officers stopped 27-year old Deante Sharp of Hopkinsville on Woodmill Road just after 12:15 a.m. for having a broken taillight, according to a report, which says there was a strong odor of marijuna coming from his car.
A computer check determined Sharp was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court and that his license was suspended.
Sharp was placed under arrest and a search of his vehicle allegedly revealed marijuana, pills, a scale, a 9 mm handgun and additional magazines—one loaded with flanged ammunition. He was charged with trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, using restricted ammunition during commission of a felony and driving with a suspended license.
