One killed, three hurt in Lyon County crash on I-24

One person was killed and three others were injured in a crash involving an RV on Interstate 24 in Lyon County early Friday morning.

Kentucky State Police is investigating and says 30-year old Kyle Ellis of Vergennes, Illinois had been eastbound near the 41 mile-marker when his RV pulling an enclosed car trailer left the roadway and went into the median for an unknown reason.

Ellis over-corrected as he attempted to re-enter the eastbound lanes, struck an embankment and the vehicle overturned.

Ellis was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers—27-year old Michael Herring and 49-year old Donald Ellis of Vergennes and 28-year old Nicki Meadows of Du Quoin, Illinois—were all injured.

Donald Ellis and Herring were flown to Nashville hospitals and Meadows was taken by ambulance to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
