The Kentucky New Era will leave its headquarters on East Ninth Street and return to downtown Hopkinsville later this year.
That’s according to an article posted on the local newspaper’s website Friday that says they will move to Eighth and Main Street in the former J.C. Penny building.
The New Era left its former location at Seventh and Bethel for Ninth Street in 1971.
Paxton Media Group recently purchased the New Era, but the transaction did not include the real estate, with the article noting that the paper is now printed in Owensboro.
Local businessman Hal McCoy is buying the old J.C. Penny building and will renovate the facility to meet the needs of the paper. The move is expected to be complete by November, according to the article written by retired New Era journalist Jennifer Brown.
