HS Baseball: Christian County, Hopkinsville & Ft. Campbell lose, UHA wins Thursday

Trigg County built an early 5-0 lead and held off Christian County 5-4 on Thursday. The Colonels had seven hits with Wyatt Stevenson going 3-4 and Jase Polley went 2-3 with three runs batted in. Bryson Brown in relief of starter Austin Fields took the loss for Christian County, now 14-13 on the season. The Colonels close out the regular season hosting Logan County at noon Saturday.

One of the top 10 teams in the state, McCracken County, spoiled Hopkinsville’s home finale downing the Tigers 5-1. Ryan Myers, John Duvall and Layne Jorgensen each had two hits with Robert Justus taking the pitching loss for Hopkinsville.
The win for McCracken County was the 500th career win for coach Geno Miller, who is retiring at the end of the season. Hopkinsville is now 17-11 and plays at Union County today.

University Heights had built a 4-0 lead then scored 10 times in the fourth inning in crushing Russellville 14-0 in four innings. Dan Johnson and Luke Welch each had two hits with Welch getting the pitching win. The Blazers are now 16-13 and close out the regular season Saturday at Graves County.

Warren Central defeated Fort Campbell 6-1. The Falcons are 4-15 on the season and meet Christian County in the opening game of the 8th district tournament Monday at 5:30 at University Heights Academy.
