There will be an open house later this month for the first Habitat for Humanity home to be constructed in Hopkinsville in the last seven years.
It will be Friday, May 24th from 2 until 4 p.m. at 499 Elm Street.
Jacob Holland is the Habitat board chair and says in a news release, “We are so proud of this new home, not just because of the family that it will serve, but because of the collaborative effort by so many businesses, organizations and individuals in the community.”
The board chose the family in September through an application and interview process.
Construction of the home on Elm Street was unique because the Hopkinsville Community College Construction and Technology department partnered with the Hopkinsville Habitat organization. Officials say the collaborative effort not only served as a training opportunity for HCC students, but it allowed the home to be completed in a timely manner with minimum costs.
