Two Democratic candidates for governor visit Hopkinsville

Hopkinsville got a visit from two of the Democratic candidates running to be Governor of Kentucky Friday—Rocky Adkins and Andy Beshear.

House Minority Floor Leader Adkins met with supporters at the old Christian County Sheriff’s Department and planned to spend more time in different areas of western Kentucky throughout the day. With the primary on Tuesday, Adkins says his team is feeling very confident in his chances of winning as he is looking out for rural Kentucky.

He says as he’s traveled people have brought him many different concerns and opinions, and he has the experience to answer those problems.

Attorney General Beshear joined with a crowd at Seafood King and says he’s feeling good as the primary draws close, saying he has proven that he keeps promises and people recognize that.

He says he considers western Kentucky vital to the success of the state, saying that he’s from this area and he hopes to be known as a western Kentucky governor if elected.

Both men say they intends to focus on fixing the pension crisis, with Adkins saying he’ll focus on improving infrastructure in rural communities and Beshear saying he intends to work on providing healthcare to everyone.
