Seven CCHS student sign music scholarships to Murray State University

There was a celebration in the Christian County High School library Thursday afternoon, as seven students in the music department signed for scholarships to Murray State University.

The four band students—Dusty Lankford, Noah Graves, Abrianna Bruton and Summer Skinner—signed along with choral students Shontez Matlock, Traicoryn West and Jessica Colly. CCHS Principal Chris Bentzel congratulated them for their hours of a hard work that led to this achievement, saying that this signing was one of the largest held in the building.

Lankford says he wants to go on to become a music instructor and help future students.

Matlock says music has always been present in his life and he’s eager to see where it will take him.

Each student signed their acceptance letter to much applause from the crowd, which was made of a friends, family and fellow classmates who were there to show their love and support. Band Director Anthony Darnall says he’s very proud of their success and says they worked harder than anyone realizes to get there.
