Christian Fiscal Court approved tax incentives for two entities Tuesday morning and learned health insurance costs are going up by 10 percent next year.
Mack Majors of Higgins Insurance says the recommendation from Anthem was for the county to contribute about 16 percent more for its partially-self-insured program.
Majors says sound management of the health insurance fund over the years has made it where fiscal court can increase its payments by only 10 percent and be okay. Magistrates approved the increase and kept employee contribution rates and benefit plans the same.
In other action, Fiscal Court approved a 12-year incentive for Overhold Properties, which will refund 90 percent of increased property tax revenues for the site at Eagle Way Bypass and Fort Campbell Boulevard where Sisk Auto Mall is constructing a new Honda dealership. Wilson Sisk says it should create about 17 new jobs.
A 10 year incentive was approved for the Christian County Industrial Foundation, which is leasing a recently expanded facility in Commerce Park to Denso Manufacturing. Magistrate Darrell Gustafson says Denso has a new line opening after 50,000 square feet of additional space was created and they are in the process of creating 80 additional jobs.
The county will refund the industrial foundation 70 percent of increased property tax revenues at that site over the next decade to help pay for the expansion. Denso’s long-term lease is servicing the debt.
County Attorney John Soyars announced the hiring of Jill Atkins as an assistant county attorney and she will prosecute domestic violence crimes.
