Maximum Security’s appeal of Kentucky Derby DQ denied

The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission is denying an appeal from the owner of race horse Maximum Security after the controversial Kentucky Derby results. Maximum Security was disqualified following Saturday’s race, even though the horse was the first to cross the finish line. Race officials determined Maximum Security impeded the path of other horses. The state’s racing commission said the decision isn’t subject to appeal, noting that under Kentucky law there’s no right to appeal a disqualification ruling.
