Traffic stop leads to arrest on gun, drug charges

A traffic stop Wednesday afternoon on North Elm Street led to the arrest of a passenger on gun and drug charges.

The car was stopped about 4:30 p.m. for an equipment violation, according to an arrest citation, which says 23-year old Patrick Poindexter of Bowling Green was a passenger and refused to identify himself.

Police say he was confrontational and would not exit the car on his own.

A struggle ensued and Poindexter was tazed and arrested.

The report says a semiautomatic handgun was located in his jacket and a baggie of marijuana was found in the car. Personnel at the Christian County Jail found a knife hidden in Poindexter’s pants.

He was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, using restricted ammunition during commission of a felony, resisting arrest, and firearm-enhanced possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
