Central City mayor releases statement on chlorine accident

Central City Mayor Tony Armour has released a statement on the Monday incident that sent several people to the hospital for chlorine exposure.

It happened just before 10 a.m. at the Central City Convention Center aquatics area. Mayor Armour says the accident created a cloud of chlorine gas that made it very difficult to breathe, causing “extreme confusion and panic.”

He praises first responders who assisted and calmed victims, and the staff at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
