The Christian County Chamber of Commerce and the Christian County Public School System honored the 2018-19 Teacher and Staff Member of the Year at a ceremony Tuesday.
There were 14 nominees for Teacher of the Year and 16 nominees for Staff Member of the Year, and videos detailing each nominee and how they impact the lives of children in the district were shown. Chamber President Kelli Pendleton thanked them all for their service and dedication, saying they are all vital in creating a thriving, successful school system.
Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill says the teachers and staff touch the lives of over 9,000 children in the Christian County Public School System.
The winner of the Teacher of the Year Award was Brandi Majors with Christian County Middle School, while Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary’s Ronald Gager claimed the Staff Member of the Year Award. A new award, the Spirit Award for Service Excellence, went to Karen Greene of Christian County High School.
