Madisonville woman hurt in rear-end collision

A rear-end collision Sunday afternoon in Madisonville injured one of the drivers.

It happened on West McLaughlin Avenue at about 4:45 p.m., according to a news release, which says 53-year old Elizabeth Mitchell of Madisonville was stopped and waiting to make a left turn into the First Presbyterian Church parking lot when her van was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by 72-year old Edwin Wyatt of Madisonville.

Wyatt told police he was temporarily blinded by the glare of the sun and didn’t see that Mitchell was stopped.

Mitchell was transported by ambulance to Baptist Health Hospital for treatment of injuries.
