Before the Christian County Sheriff’s Department moves fully into the new Public Safety Building and opens for business, the public was able to tour the facility Friday.
Attendees got to see the spacious administrative offices, where people will be able to pay their taxes and other items, the large community and training room and the expansive office space for deputies. Sheriff Tyler DeArmond says they have a tremendous turnout for the open house and seeing other people’s excitement is very gratifying.
He says not only will the new building allow them to serve the public better with the covered drive-through area and ample parking—it will allow the deputies to better perform their duties by putting everyone under one roof with professional office space.
Sheriff DeArmond says he gets the fun of moving into the new space, but he says the thanks goes to previous administrations and Christian Fiscal Court for making the project come to life.
The Public Safety Building will be open for business to the public starting Monday, which is also host to interview rooms, an armory, evidence room and bulletproof glass windows and doors. Public Information Officer Chris Miller says they also intend to take advantage of the new space by hosting community forums there and holding future training sessions for local law enforcement agencies.
