A small earthquake in northwestern Tennessee was felt by some in western Kentucky this morning.
The 3.6 tremor struck just before 6 a.m. and had an epicenter about three and a half miles northwest of Dyersburg, Tennessee, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Two people in Clarksville reported feeling slight shaking and one person in Cadiz went to the USGS website and reported feeling the tremor. Todd County Attorney Jeff Traughber felt it, along with his children, and described it as feeling like the house was settling.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries anywhere associated with the tremor.
It was likely associated with the New Madrid fault, which had two of the United States’ strongest earthquakes in its history in 1811 and 1812.
