The City of Hopkinsville is inviting the public to attend the ground breaking for the new Joe Mumford Park on April 30 at its new location on Woodmill Road.
According to a news release, the new area is found on Woodmill between Sharpe Street and East 18th Street and the groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Mayor Carter Hendricks encourages all to attend, saying “We couldn’t be more excited to see construction of this important project begin and look forward to offering a top notch recreation facility for families throughout the community.”
Christian County Fiscal Court Magistrate Magaline Ferguson says, “This has been years in the making, so always be persistent and never give up.”
The relocation and redesign of Joe Mumford Park is part of the Hopkinsville-Christian County WINS initiative and will feature playground, full-sized basketball court, pavilion, restroom facilities, parking, play fields, and lawn areas for gatherings.
