Two people avoided serious injury after their vehicle went into rushing water early Sunday morning in northwestern Christian County.
The Chevy Impala had been eastbound on Collins Bridge Road near the 3 mile-marker when it came in contact with rushing water over the road, according to Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Andy Sanderson, who says the car then floated off the road and into an adjacent flooded field.
The driver and passenger, both from Dawson Springs, were able to escape the car and walked to a nearby home.
Both individuals were wet and cold, but did not require a trip to the hospital.
Officials at ECC say Collins Bridge Road, Terry Coal Road and Hopkins Park Road are all water-covered.
A van had become stuck in water over Hopkins Park Road earlier in the morning.
