Pedestrian injured in hit and run on East Ninth

An employee of Whistle Stop Donuts was injured early Saturday morning after she was struck by a hit and run driver on East Ninth Street.

Hopkinsville Police Lt. Seth Meek says 21-year old Joy Ruzicka of Hopkinsville was walking from the bakery across the street to Whistle Stop a few minutes after 4 a.m. and was very near the sidewalk when she was struck by an automobile driven by 23-year old Desean Johnson of Hopkinsville.

Johnson allegedly kept driving, but was arrested soon after and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Ruzicka was transported by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
