Multiple reports Thursday indicated former University Heights boys coach Randy McCoy stepped down as coach at East Ridge High School.
McCoy spent five seasons as Blazers coach from 2007-2012 compiling a 91-54 record and leading the team to an All A State title and a trip to the Boys Sweet 16 in 2008. East Ridge finished 12-16 this past season.

According to a story from the Appalachian News-Express, McCoy did not indicate that he was “retiring”, but left open the possibility of returning to coaching. The story also indicated McCoy has battled health issues this past season.
