Truck stolen in Guthrie, crashed into Elkton DG

Police in Todd County are investigating after a box truck was stolen and crashed into the Elkton Dollar General store Sunday morning.

Elkton Police are investigating the crash and Captain Jason Clardy says the truck was stolen from 31W Insulation in Guthrie. It was crashed into the side of the store sometime around 6 a.m. The driver didn’t steal anything at Dollar General, fled the scene and then ditched the truck at Clifton’s Auto Salvage, where he damaged two salvaged vehicles.

Todd County Sheriff’s Sgt. Patrick Turner says the suspect stole several pieces of equipment out of the back of the box truck, including two garage door motors, two brown garage doors, four orange Werner step ladders and several Dewalt power tools.

Turner believes alcohol was a factor, as there was a still an odor of alcohol in the cab of the box truck when it was recovered.

Anyone with information on the incidents should call Todd County Dispatch at 270-265-2501.
