CASA hosts successful Superhero 5K

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Christian County, more commonly known as CASA, hosted its inaugural Superhero 5K run/walk Saturday morning.

Executive Director Virginia Erxleben says they had 22 participants in the event that began at Founders Square and made its way to the Hopkinsville Greenway.

Scott Morris, John Bloecher and Jacob Newby were the top-three finishing males and Vanessa Lynch, Tonya Fleming and Tina Newby were the top-three females.

Erxleben gave special thanks to US Bank and Jerry’s Carwash for being the sponsors of the event and to other community organizations such as Hopkinsville Recreation Department, HWEA, and the Hopkinsville Police Department for assisting in making the event a success.

She says plans will be underway to host the Superhero 5K again next year.

The CASA program is designed to help children in Christian County who are victims of dependency, abuse or neglect. An advocate is appointed by a judge to offer support to a child that is involved in the court system until they find a permanent home.
