Todd County teens, adults to walk for child abuse prevention month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and there will be a prevention walk Saturday in Elkton.

It’s hosted by the Todd County School System, Todd County Sheriff’s Office and the Department for Community Based Services office in Elkton. The Child Abuse Prevention Walk begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at the welcome center on the Historic Public Square and goes to the City-County Park.

Deputy Tracey Mayberry is the school resource officer in Todd County and says the walk and events at the high school on Friday are ways to stand up against child abuse now and to hopefully prevent it for future generations.

Deputy Mayberry is hopeful adults will be inspired by the community’s young people and join them in their stand against child abuse.

Anyone in the region is encouraged to attend and to wear blue.
