Barnes staying as Tennessee basketball coach

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes is staying put after UCLA made a hard push to lure him to the west coast. Multiple outlets reported Monday that Barnes was mulling a lucrative offer from UCLA that would have paid him five-million-dollars per year plus bonuses and incentives to coach the Bruins.

The 65-year-old signed an extension with UT last September that pays him 3.25-million-dollars a year and runs through 2023-24. It includes annual pay increases and has a five-million-dollar buyout. Barnes has spent the last four years at Tennessee, guiding the Vols to the Sweet 16 this year and 31 wins.
