HCC offering massage therapy courses

Hopkinsville Community College is now enrolling for a new massage therapy program that will begin in August.

According to a news release, the 30 credit hour certificate program, consists of both online and in-classroom courses and students are able to complete the program requirements in as little as two semesters. The program will focus on the medical significance of massage therapy, and provide students with the skills and technique to work in a multitude of health related fields.

This is the first time that HCC has offered massage therapy, so the program is still pending accreditation approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Director of Allied Health Beth Beverly says, “Massage therapists are quickly becoming a valuable part of today’s medical care. A number of specialists now include massage therapy as an intricate part of their patient’s treatment plan. Massage therapists can work in a variety of healthcare settings.”
