Indictments returned for murder, complicity in Bethel Street case

A Christian County Grand Jury returned indictments Friday against the three adults charged in relation to the January shooting death of Corvyan Thomas, including charges of robbery and murder.

Indicted for murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and unlawful transaction with a minor is 22-year old Shakkory Willis. Willis allegedly entered the residence on Bethel Street, along with co-defendant James Yates and a 14-year old juvenile, in an attempted robbery.  In the course of the crime, Thomas was shot and killed and another victim, Dylan Stewart, was shot in the leg.

Willis was allegedly the one who shot Thomas, and the 14-year old allegedly shot Stewart while Yates, who is indicted on charges of complicity to burglary, complicity to robbery and unlawful transaction with a minor, reportedly held Stewart down.

Co-defendant Lane Carter is indicted on charges of complicity to complicity to burglary, complicity to robbery and unlawful transaction with a minor. He allegedly drove the suspects to and from the location on Bethel Street where the shooting occurred.

The 14-year old and two other female juveniles have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
