Christian County Heart Walk coming up in April

The Christian County Heart Walk is fast approaching and citizens are urged to create teams, donate to the cause and spread heart health awareness.

Suzanne Riley is the division director for western Kentucky and she travels across the region educating people on how to keep their hearts healthy and organizing heart walks to raise funds for the American Heart Association. Appearing on WHOP, she says the Christian County Heart Walk is set for April 20 at the fairgrounds.

Riley says this year’s ‘survivor’ is Oakley Haddock, who has lived with heart defects since his birth.

She says people can register online at heart.org and sign up under the Christian County walk.

Riley says heart disease is the leading cause of death in the world, with stroke being the fifth leading cause. She says healthier life choices such as eating healthy, getting plenty of exercise and recognizing the signs of heart disease or stroke can help save lives.

Money raised by the local Heart Walk stays local and goes to fund medical research, advocacy and educational programs to help Americans become healthier.
