Kentucky senators pleased with special counsel summary

Kentucky’s two U.S. Senators are reacting to the summary of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell noted in a statement that the report concluded President Trump’s campaign didn’t conspire with Russia in its efforts to influence the election. Senator McConnell also pointed out that Russia’s efforts to interfere with American democracy are ongoing and still dangerous.

He says he appreciates the Attorney General’s, “commitment to continue to review the record on this matter over the coming days in conjunction with Special Counsel Mueller, with the goal of producing as much information as possible, consistent with the law.”

Meanwhile, Senator Rand Paul of Bowling Green reiterated his agreement with a claim often made by President Trump that the investigation was a “witch hunt.” He asserts, “The report makes it clear nothing existed except in the fevered imaginations of partisans in politics and the media.”
