Local woman celebrates earning degree, grateful for McDonald’s program

A local woman is celebrating achieving her goal of earning a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, thanks in part to a partnership between McDonald’s and Colorado Technical University.

Sherica Ferguson was joined by her friends, family and McDonald’s work family Friday morning at the McDonald’s on Fort Campbell Boulevard, where she works, as she received her diploma and flipped her graduation tassel. She says she is grateful for McDonald’s making a way for her to take college courses with tuition assistance through their “Archways to Opportunities” program.

Ferguson says she is truly grateful for everyone who supported her throughout this journey and the struggles that faced her.

Joe McEnaney is the owner of the local McDonald’s and explained the “Archways” scholarship program, saying Ferguson set a high goal and they were proud and happy to help her how they could.

Colorado Technical University Education Alliances Vice President Joe Adolf presented Ferguson with her degree, saying that she will go on to inspire others to chase their dreams.

Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks presented her with a certificate of meritorious honor and wished her luck in all her future endeavors, remarking that the City of Hopkinsville is always looking for good people to serve in criminal justice.
