Hopkinsville pair charged with meth trafficking

 

 

 

 

 

 

A Hopkinsville pair were arrested on charges of trafficking in methamphetamine Thursday after a traffic stop on North Main Street.

According to the police report, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was travelling southbound on North Main Street around 10 p.m. for having expired tags. Contact was made with the driver, 32-year old Timothy Barry of Hopkinsville, who was reportedly extremely nervous and unable to produce a Kentucky driver’s license or proof of insurance.

When asked if there were drugs or weapons in the vehicle, Barry reportedly became defensive and denied the existence of any weapons and said the vehicle wasn’t his. K9 unit Bowie allegedly indicted on the vehicle during a free air sniff and a search of the vehicle reportedly revealed a bag of meth in the passenger seat.  A set of digital scales and marijuana was located on Barry’s person.

A passenger in the vehicle, 30-year old Tiffany Jones of Hopkinsville, was also arrested and once at the Christian County Jail, a search of her person revealed more baggies of meth in her bra, which she allegedly admitted to possessing.

Both are charged with trafficking in meth, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Barry is additional charged with several traffic violations.
