Police: Armed man threatened mail carrier in Madisonville

Madisonville Police arrested a man Saturday who allegedly threatened a mail carrier on a porch.

The Postal Service employee told police that as he attempted to deliver mail to the front porch of 297 West Noel Avenue, a man inside begin making threats. The carrier fled on foot and that’s when 54-year old Mark Richardson of Madisonville allegedly exited the home brandishing a shotgun.

Officers found Richardson acting erratically and throwing items from the front porch and he allegedly disobeyed commands and went back inside. Contact was made by phone and he eventually reemerged following a few minutes of negotiation.

Richardson was arrested and charged with terroristic threatening, menacing and disorderly conduct.
