Unemployment was up from December to January in all nine Pennyrile counties, but it was close to the January rate from a year ago in most places.
Christian County’s jobless rate was 5 percent, up from 4.3 percent in December and slightly above the 4.9 percent from January of 2018. That equated to 1,232 people who were looking for work, but could not find it.
Todd County maintained western Kentucky’s lowest unemployment rate at 4 percent, up from 3.1 percent at the same as a year ago.
Trigg County had a jobless rate of 4.9 percent, up from 4 percent in December and down from 5.2 percent in January of 2018.
The state average was 4.5 percent and the national number was 4.4 percent.
