Report: Man caused disturbance, assaulted officers

An investigation on South Main Street Wednesday morning led to the arrest of a man for allegedly assaulting police officers.

Hopkinsville Police were dispatched to 910 South Main Street regarding a disturbance and found 42-year old Phillip Brewer, who appeared to be under the influence of a substance, according to an arrest citation.

As police attempted to place Brewer in custody, he allegedly became aggressive. A taser was deployed and Brewer continued to struggle with police, causing injuries to two officers. One of those officers was treated at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Brewer was also taken to the hospital and allegedly threatened to “blow up” the hospital on the ride there.

He is charged with third-degree assault of a police officer, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, menacing, resisting arrest and terroristic threatening.
