High winds, heavy rain, severe weather possible through Thursday

Heavy rain, severe weather and high winds are in the forecast from Wednesday night through Thursday evening.

Up to an inch and a half of rain could fall across Christian, Todd and Trigg counties by the time the final storms move through, which could cause some minor flooding issues—especially in in the usual low-lying areas.

The Storm Prediction Center has western Kentucky and middle Tennessee under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms, with damaging wind and isolated tornadoes the primary threats. Severe weather will be most likely in the late morning and afternoon hours Thursday.

The wind will be the big story, with sustained winds around 20 mph from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday and gusts could reach 40 mph.

Objects outdoors could be tossed around and driving could become difficult for those in high-profile vehicles. Boating conditions on area lakes and rivers will be hazardous.
