Heavy rain, gusty winds in the forecast this week

More heavy rain and gusty winds are in the forecast this week.

The National Weather Service in Paducah is forecasting an inch to an inch and a half of rain from Wednesday night through Thursday evening across the southern Pennyrile region.

No major flooding issues are anticipated, but there could be some standing water in usual places with the ground still saturated after a very wet winter.

The wind will be the big story, with sustained winds up to 20 mph and gusts approaching 40 mph on Thursday.

Forecasters say some power outages will be possible, limbs could be blown down and unsecured objects may be tossed around. Driving will become difficult for high-profile vehicles and boating conditions will be hazardous on area waterways.
