A suspect has been charged in connection with a shooting that happened Sunday morning on Hancock Street.
Charged with first-degree assault is 42-year old Dethaniel Thompson of Hopkinsville, who allegedly shot 38-year old Leandre Watkins in the right leg in front of 402 Hancock just before 10 a.m. Sunday.
Police say he also fired bullets into three different vehicles parked in the area before fleeing the scene.
Thompson reportedly tossed the gun out of his vehicle in the area of Cypress Street and Young Street.
He is additionally charged with wanton endangerment, tampering with evidence and criminal mischief. Watkins was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
As previously reported, Thompson is facing wanton endangerment and unlawful imprisonment charges for a separate incident from last week when he allegedly held his girlfriend at gunpoint and fired three gunshots into the floor after accusing her of cheating.
