A man accused of holding his girlfriend at gunpoint and firing a weapon near her head last week was arrested on multiple charges Sunday.
The alleged incident happened Wednesday morning on McLean Avenue, according to a report, which says 42-year old Dethaniel Thompson of Hopkinsville accused his girlfriend of cheating on him when she returned home from work.
Thompson allegedly retrieved a gun from a bedroom and fired one shot, then pointed the gun at the victim and demanded she sit down at a table. Police say Thompson wouldn’t let the victim leave the table for about a half hour and fired two more rounds into the floor from his handgun—once with the gun near the woman’s head.
Thompson was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with unlawful imprisonment, first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
